Balance is the Key

In the book of Proverbs we see that God is very much against false balances and weights. One of the main reasons for this is that God is balanced. In this lesson we will look at God as a balanced being and man as not a balanced being.

Proverbs 11:1 (A False Balance is an abomination unto the Lord)

Proverbs 16:11 (Just weight and Balances are the Lords)

Proverbs 20:23 (A False balance is not good)

The word of God says that God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:28-29) but it also says that God is love (John 4:8,16). Man has a hard time understanding God because God is balanced and he is not (Isaiah 55:8).

We see a good example of this when we look at Job and compare Job 31:6 with Job 42:1-6. He first wanted to be weighed in an even balance then after God showed up he had a little different attitude.

Many lost people will question how a God who love could send someone to hell. The reason that they have such a hard time understanding this is because they are trying to view God from an unbalanced mind. Let us look at three things that God is and hopefully explain this a little better.

1)  God is Holy (1 Peter 1:16)

• God cannot sin

2)  God is Just (1 John 1:9)

• God cannot overlook sin

3)  God is Righteous (2 Timothy 4:8)

• God became man (1 Timothy 3:16)
• As man God became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21)
• As man suffered the penalty of sin (Isaiah 53:10-12)

So God solved the problem of man’s sin by taking his place in the form of his son and sending him to hell instead of us. This is why God who is love can send a person to hell. If he sent his own son there for you and you reject him then why would he not send you? He will and he will be just in doing so.

What can we do with this?

1)  Warn others

2)  Apply balance to our lives (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ; Philippians 4:11-13)
