Benefits of the Resurrection
When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, the resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us:
Victory over Hell – Eph 2:4-6. He hath raised us up and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Because of the resurrection we who are saved are already seated in heavenly places. We will never perish in hell. We can’t. Therefore, in 2 Cor 5:8, when we die, we are absent from this body and present with the Lord. This is eternal security. This is one of the greatest benefits of the resurrection.
Victory over Sin – Rom 6:3-12. We can walk in newness of life now. The resurrected life of the new man follows the crucified life of the old man. We experience the power of his resurrection, Phil 3:10. This is how you don’t let sin reign in your mortal body. It’s not just about fighting to get the sin out, but it’s also about replacing the sin with something far better… the new life, the resurrected life. This is one of the benefits of the resurrection which is often never taught.
Victory over the Grave – 1 Cor 15:54-57. Your body’s coming up, too. The grave can’t hold you. You get a glorified body. In Phil 3:21 God will change our vile body fashioned like unto Jesus’s glorious body. Of the benefits of the resurrection, this is the one that is most commonly known among saved people.
Conclusion: if you are saved, you have victory over hell, sin, and the grave. If you’re not saved, you are still stuck down here and on your way to hell when you die. You have sin that still reigns in your mortal body. And your body will be worm food for ever. You would do well to be saved today by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
