Biblical Sexuality Believe It or Not
As you can see in the very first chapter of the Bible, God created “man” (humans) male and female, Gen 1:27. And he instituted marriage between a man and a woman, Gen 2:24, in which they become one flesh. One of the results of their union, by design, is fruitfulness and multiplication, through the birth of children, Gen 1:28. This is biblical sexuality. When you read this, you can choose to believe it or not.
Many people, apparently, don’t believe this. They believe in perversions of sexuality like fornication, adultery, homosexuality, bestiality, transgenderism, incest, and pornography.
The Bible speaks against all of these perversions.
- 1 Thes 4:3, “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication”.
- Rom 13:9, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”.
- Rom 1:26-27, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet”.
- Lev 18:23, “Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith; neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion”.
- Deut 22:5, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God”. They weren’t to wear each others’ clothes, much more completely change their sexuality.
- Lev 18 & 20 thoroughly describe all the various instances of incest that are forbidden.
- Num 33:52, “Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures…”. In Ezek 23:11-21, when Jerusalem saw the men portrayed upon the wall (who were even clothed) she doted upon them and committed whoredoms. Images produce imaginations, and imaginations lead to actions.
Many don’t believe what God wrote, not because it’s not true, but because they don’t want to believe in biblical sexuality.
Like advocates of alternative theories to creation, they might gather all kinds of testimonies and “evidence” to justify their opinions. With very heartfelt opposition, skillful apologetics, and societal pressure, proponents of sexual perversions may even try to convince you that they are right and God is wrong.
When you study the kings of the Old Testament who were confronted with this decision of whom to believe, you perceive God’s judgment in matters pertaining to Biblical sexuality.
Under Rehoboam, there were sodomites in the land, 1 Ki 14:24. The Lord said of him, that he forsook the law of the Lord, 2 Chr 12:1, and he did evil, 2 Chr 12:14. Asa, who did right in the eyes of the Lord, took away the sodomites out of the land, 1 Ki 15:11-12. Jehoshaphat, who did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, 1 Ki 22:43, took the remnant of the sodomites out of the land, 1 Ki 22:46. King Josiah, in 2 Ki 22:2, did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. During his reign, he “brake down the houses of the sodomites”, 2 Ki 23:7. Good kings didn’t tolerate sodomy.
You might have close relatives who have chosen to believe that they are something other than what the Bible says God created them to be. And they may persistently urge you to accept them and agree with their choices.
You love them, no doubt, because they are your relatives. But you don’t have to condone their sin or reinterpret what God said to get along with them. Some Bible believers have relented and no longer stand with God and what the Bible says about sexuality. They have chosen not to believe the Bible on this subject.
Like them, you might be faced with a choice in the matter of Biblical sexuality. Are you going to believe what God wrote or not? All the evidence offered and pressure applied should not come to bear on your decision. Your own feelings and lusts should not guide you. You should simply consider what God wrote and then make your choice to believe it or not. As for me, I believe the Bible.
