Last week we preached on the blessedness of giving. According to Acts 20:35, it is more blessed to give than to receive. Through giving we have the blessedness of financial security, eternal fruit, abundant joy, and heavenly treasure. Today, we are going to discuss bountiful giving. Through bountiful giving we have:
Bountiful Reaping – 2 Cor 9:6 – bountiful reaping comes from bountiful sowing. Sow more seed, reap more harvest. Sow more word, reap more souls. Sow more in giving, reap more in blessings.
Bountiful Love – 2 Cor 9:7 – you find God’s bountiful love when you give cheerfully, “for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
Bountiful Grace – 2 Cor 9:8 – you find God’s bountiful grace to provide for all of your needs. “God is able to make all grace abound… always… having all sufficiency… in all things”
Bountiful Work – 2 Cor 9:8 – you find bountiful good work through bountiful giving. We are to be “zealous of good works.” [Titus 2:14]. People who give bountifully never seem to have a problem figuring out what God wants them to do. They are invested; they are connected; they are working.
Bountiful Fruitfulness – 2 Cor 9:10 – you find bountiful seed through giving so that you have more seed to sow and therefore an increase in the “fruits of your righteousness.”
Bountiful Thanksgiving – 2 Cor 9:11-15 – you find God gets more glory and receives abundantly more thanksgiving through bountiful giving. There are people all over the world thanking God for all you have done for them through giving.
Conclusion: From all we see that God does with bountiful giving, we should be encouraged to give bountifully.
