Paul prayed for the Ephesians that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith.

When Jesus dwells in your heart you know it as long as there is not something else in there that is crowding him – like sin and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches or the lust of other things entering in.

You’ll experience rest [Matt 11:28-30] and peace [Gal 5:22-23] and assurance [Rom 8:16] in your heart that when are a child of God and when Christ dwells in your heart fully – you’re settled.

And not only does his presence in your heart help you to be settled but it affects what you do and say.  When Jesus dwells in your heart fully, you’ll:

Sing – Col 3:16 – you will sing with grace in your heart to the Lord – you don’t need a more beautiful voice, you just need more of Christ.

Witness – Matt 12:34 – for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh – when your heart is full of Christ you cannot keep quiet about him.

Give – 2 Cor 8:1-8 – when you consider all that Christ has done for you, you will quit spending all of your time praying about how much you can get out of him and you will start praying about what you can give back to him.

Love – 1 Jn 4:7 – Jesus is the one that gave us the new commandment to love others as he loved us – charity is the bond of perfectness – if you are having trouble loving others you need to fill your heart more with Jesus.

Conclusion: If you have trouble singing, witnessing, giving or loving, Jesus can change all of that to the degree that he fills your heart!!  Get other stuff out and more of Him in!
