Condemned Already John 3:18-21 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
You are condemned already because:
You won’t believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. – Many people know about Jesus Christ, but few would believe that God would condemn them. They think their sin isn’t that bad. Religious people have a hard time because they think their religious works mitigate their sin. Successful people don’t think they need God. Some people believe that we are all God’s children at birth. Others think that baptism washes away sin.
They are condemned already because they don’t believe on Jesus Christ (John 3:18). Acts 4:12“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus’ name is the only one capable of saving people. Good works cannot substitute or even supplement Jesus’ name.
You reject the light of Jesus – John 1:9 “That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
You love the darkness of the world – John 3:19 Men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. If you have not received Jesus, you hate him. Jesus said: “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” (John 7:7) John 15:19 “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
You hate reproof – People hate to hear that they are wrong. Religious or successful people do not want to hear that they are condemned.
Conclusion: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will escape condemnation. John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
And then when you get saved, let others know so that they may also be saved. Matthew 5:16 “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
