In an earlier sermon we preached Consider the Lord is God. In addition, you should consider these things, too.

Consider the lilies of the field, Matt 6:28.  The lilies of the field are more glorious than Solomon in all his glory.  God does that.  Therefore, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness rather than the food and raiment that you’re seeking.  God will provide all you need.  He’ll take care of you better than he takes care of the lilies.  Let him order your steps.

Consider what I say, 2 Tim 2:7.  Paul continued, “and the Lord give thee understanding in all things”.  So many things that we now understand about the Bible, the Lord revealed to us as we considered what he said.  People hastily look for answers in commentaries or online.  Don’t do this.  Slow down and really think about what he said.   He will help you to understand much more than you could ever learn reading another man’s comments.

Consider him, Heb 12:3.  He endured such contradiction of sinners against himself.  You will certainly be persecuted and bear reproach for your faith in Christ, Jn 15:18-21 and 1 Pet 2:23. Instead of seeking retaliation or vengeance, consider him, “lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds”.  

Consider the end of their conversation, Heb 13:7.  Their conversation is their general course of manners; behavior; deportment.  How are they living the faith they are preaching?  You can follow a man down the right road.  In 1 Cor 11:1, Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ”.  If you’re following a man who is following Christ, you’ll end right.

Conclusion: You should consider these things and live by them. You don’t have to seek after wealth and provision; seek after God and his righteousness. Take time to understand what you’re reading in the Bible. Look to Jesus when sinners contradict you. And follow the faith of the men who are following God.
