Eyes of the Lord
Prov 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord… Prov 15:3 the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. He sees the wrong and the right.
He’s keeping an eye on you. Accountability groups are about others keeping an eye on you. They can’t see you all the time, but the Lord does. You can lie to them, but you can’t lie to the Lord. When we serve others, we are not to work with eye service as men pleasers. The Pharisees did what they did publicly to be seen of men.
According to Deut 13:18 we must do that which is right in the eyes of the Lord thy God. 1 Ki 15:5 David did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. 1 Ki15:11 Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord as did David his father. 1 Ki 16:5 But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the Lord. He sees all of this.
How do we know what he sees? Heb 4:12-13 His word is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
When you’re trying to get away with something, you are careful to not be seen. You know how to erase the history on your computer. You wait till you’re alone. In Ezek 8:7-10 God let Ezekiel see what the men of Israel portrayed on the wall. They thought they were doing this stuff in secret.
You want to “see” the eyes of the Lord. Because he scattereth away all evil with his eyes, Prov 20:8.
He’s looking out after you. His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me. He provides you with safety and protection. He’s “lookin’ out for you”. In Gen 6:8 Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 2 Chr 16:9 the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Ps 33:18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him. Ps 34:15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous. 1 Pet 3:12.
He’s checking you out. He wants to see what you’re made of. Ps 11:4 his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The Lord trieth the righteous, Ps 11:5. When we’re checking out a person’s ability we say, “Let me see what you got”. Lucas, my trainer, shows me the right way to do an exercise. He sees what I’m doing and corrects it.
The eyes of the Lord are beneficial for our correction and instruction. But he has to put you to the test and he knows just how to do it. Don’t complain and murmur and fret. Some of the tough things you’re going through are not from the devil or the normal hardships of life. Somethings you go through are from the Lord himself so ha can see how you’re coming in your spiritual growth. Don’t fuss; thank God.
Conclusion: You must be constantly aware that the eyes of the Lord are always upon you. He’s keeping an eye on you to see what you’re up to. He’s looking out after you to keep you safe. And he’s checking you out to see how you’re growing. Never forget this.
