Every good gift and perfect gift is from above – Jas 1:17.

The greatest gift is Jesus Christ – Jn 3:16 – this gift has prospered in the salvation of millions of souls – this gift has built up God’s family since Adam and Eve blew it in the garden.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit prosper in the functioning of the body of Christ – 1 Cor 12, Rom 12:6-8, 2 Tim 1:6-7 – watch out for the sign gifts – they have been used to deceive.

Gifts to the church prosper in that they edify the church – Eph 4:11-12 – therefore when your pastor is there (he should be a gift from God to the church unless he’s a hireling) you ought to be there because God has given him to you to grow you – be there for special meetings when visiting pastors and evangelists are there to help you – they are a gift to the church from God.

A gift you give somebody:

• Prospers in four things: supplying their need, thanksgiving to God, glory to God AND they will offer prayers for you – 2 Cor 9:11-15
• Prospers in God’s return to you as needed – Lk 6:38
• Prospers in opening a way for you before great men (OT Queen Sheba brought presents to Solomon, for instance) – Prov 18:16
