How To Glorify God, Part I 1 Cor 6: 19-20 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO. Glorifying God is one of our principal responsibilities.
There are several ways to glorify God. This broadcast covers half of those ways. The next broadcast will cover the other half. The Bible is clear on this subject. Christians should definitely be glorifying God. 1 Cor. 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”. But the question comes up, “How can I glorify the Lord?” Well, there are a number of ways that we can find in the scriptures.
The following are verses from the Bible that show you many ways of glorifying God.
Start Glorifying God
By getting saved – 2 Thes. 1:10, “When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” Jesus is going to come to be glorified in his saints. Thus, he is not glorified in your destruction [2 Thes 1:7-9], but rather in your salvation. It may seem obvious, but he can’t be glorified in you if you are not one of his saints
By Testifying of God’s Deliverance – Ps. 50:15, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”. Some of the trouble we go through is strictly for the glory of God when he has delivered us. The time between your request for deliverance and your ultimate deliverance may be much longer than you think. But God will be glorified when he delivers young you tell others what he has done.
By Allowing God to Fulfill all the Good Pleasure of His Goodness in Your Life – 2 Thes. 1:11-12, “Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ”. Allowing God to do this might bring some tough trials, just as Jesus went through Gethsemane, Calvary and Hell.
By Praising God – Ps. 86:12, “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore”. One of the best ways to do this is through congregational singing and testimony.
By Believing God is the Creator and thanking Him for His provisions – Rom 1:20-21, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened”. If you are around those who believe the science of natural processes explains our origin, then you are around those who don’t glorify God. Stand up and don’t be ashamed to glorify and thank God for his creation.
By Speaking as the Oracles of God – 1 Pet 4:11, “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever”. Lots of people have opinions about things. God is glorified when you tell others what God said.
By Ministering according to the ability which God Gives – 1 Pet 4:11, “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever”. God is not glorified when you minister the way someone else does. Don’t minister according to your natural talent or according to the way you think of yourself. God is glorified when you minister according to the ability that he gave you.
