God Has A Plan
John 6:1-14
Introduction:
- Pray
- Read the passage. Great Account of this miracle, in all four Gospels.
- [Verse 5-6] Jesus had a plan, and it worked out perfectly. He was never surprised.
- Every choice that you have ever made, Jesus had a plan!
- All too often, we devise our plan and ask God to bless it! (How’s that working for you?)
- His disciples when presented the problem didn’t run with their own plans.
- No collection was taken up.
- No committees formed.
- No polls taken.
- No emotional out-burst.
- No pity parties.
- No blame directed at anyone.
- Port Ministry Illustrations
In this passage we find much about God’s plan!
Focus on what you have.
- [Verse 5 & 7] Philip focused on what they have not!
- His first thought was why it will not work!
- [Verse 9] Andrew exposed what they had, but quickly followed Philip with “not enough”.
- Sometimes we begin correctly, but don’t exclude excuses.
- [1Kings 17:8-16] Elijah works God’s plan, uses what she has, empty containers.
- Her plan was to eat once more, then die. She had already given up before God’s plan showed up! Don’t give up!
- [2Kings 4:1-8] Elisha works God’s plan, uses her pot of oil.
- She was desperate, but God had a plan. Emotions, Circumstances, and Your time clock will distract you from God’s plan.
Obey simple commands.
- [Verse 10] Sit down.
- [1Cor.14:40] “Let all things be done decently and in order.”
- In other passages it says to put them in 100’s and 50’s.
- The first thing in feeding 5000+ is to establish order.
- If your plan involves disorder? Better re-establish who’s plan it is!
- [1Cor.14:33] “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace,”
- [1Kings19:9-13] Elijah found that God’s plan was found in a “still small voice”.
- [Verse 11] Enlist others.
- [Rom.14:7] “For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.”
- There are times when you need help!
- More of a reason to be in church and building friendships with other Christians.
- [Ecc.4:7-12] The reward of enlisting others. (Wise, Experienced, Godly counsel)
- [Verse 12] Don’t waist anything.
- God’s plan never includes waste.
- Your material wealth, money, time, and your experience are supplied by God, and what you don’t use today may just be exactly what I needed next!
Give Thanks.
- [Verse 11] Gave thanks before the miracle! (Good or Bad)
- [Eph.5:20] “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
- [1Thes.5:18]” In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
- Other passages, He looked to Heaven.
- That is the only place to look for God’s plan!
- [Verse 13] “over and above” That is God’s plan, always better than yours.
- [Eph.3:20] “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…”
- [Verse 14] Others begin to see that it is God’s plan!
- God’s plan blesses you in a way that others see the power of God in your life.
Conclusion:
Lost, You must have God’s plan for salvation
Saved, Review the plans you have working, are they yours or God’s?
Focus on what you have.
Obey simple commands.
Give Thanks.
