God is Faithful
Deuteronomy 7:9
In this sermon we are looking at God and his faithfulness. This attribute is one of the many great attributes that God possesses. Here we will see a definition that fits the word faithful, and example of the faithfulness of God, and the faithfulness of God shown to us through Jesus Christ.
The Definition of Faithfulness:
In the American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828 faithfulness is given several definitions but is it is the last one that seems to fit the faithfulness of God.
Faithfulness – true; worthy of belief.
An Example of God’s faithfulness:
In Psalm 119:89-91we are shown that the earth is an example of God’s faithfulness. God established it and it abides still today. Note it is referred to as God’s servants.
Jesus Christ as the manifestation of the Faithfulness of God:
In Isaiah 49 we see Jesus Christ connected with the faithfulness of God, note specially verses 6-7. Jesus is also called faithful in the following verses;
Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”
Revelation 19:11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.”
How we can see the Faithfulness of God through Jesus Christ?
1) In Salvation (Hebrews 2:9-17)
2) In living for God after Salvation (1 Corinthians 10:13)
3) In our eternal security (1 Thessalonians 5:24 ; 1 Timothy 1:12)
4) In Judgment (Acts 17:31)
