Trouble: that which causes concern or distress.
Introduction: The Bible has a lot to say regarding the troubles of life. Troubles come in all shapes and sizes, in all places, and to all people. The troubles of life are inevitable and often come when you’re not ready for them or when you didn’t expect it. They come at work, school, home, with family, with friends, with brethren at church, with lost people, etc. The question is, how do you deal with trouble?
You deal with trouble by:
- Seeking for God- Psalm 91:1-2, 14-15 “I will be with him in trouble”. God will hear and deliver you out of trouble. When you are going through trouble, seeking relief in any other place aside from God, will not help you.
- Psalm 34:4 “ I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears”.

- I Samuel 30:1-6 “but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God”.
- Trusting in God– Psalm 56:3 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee”.
-
- Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LROD; trust all in him; and he shall bring it to pass”.
- II Corinthians 7:5-6 God has many ways of helping us deal with trouble. One of those ways is to send us people who are able to comfort us in time of trouble.
- II Corinthians 1:3-4 These people usually have been through situations that will allow them to help with the comforting.
- Waiting on God– Isaiah 40:29-31 “but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength”. The place to wait while going through trouble is in the Lord.
-
- Psalm 46:1 “a very present help IN trouble”. Although everything is falling apart around you, wait on God.
- Psalm 27:13-14 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD”.
- If we wait on something or someone else, it will keep us awake at night. But if we wait on God, it will always work best.
IV. Hoping in God– I Peter 5:8-10 “suffered a while”. If we seek for God, and trust in God, and wait on God, we know that these troubles are only temporary and shall soon come to pass.
- Troubles are temporary. Many of the troubles that we have gone through seem to be in the past and even soon forgotten.
- II Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”. If we can deal with these little and temporary things here on this earth, we have a better treasure in heaven.
V. Giving it to God– Psalm 55:22 “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved”.
-
- I Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”.
- Psalm 56:4 “In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me”.
Conclusion: Troubles will come to the life of the believer but how you deal with your trouble will make all the difference. If you deal with it in this manner, you will get through it, if you don’t, you won’t. Seek God, trust God, wait on God, hope in God, and give your troubles to God.
