This sermon is on how to walk as a Christian. As Christians, we are to:
Walk in newness of life – Rom 6:4 – when you get saved, you get a new life. Your natural man is still alive, but your old man is crucified with Christ. Therefore, we should walk in newness of life because Christ is risen from the dead. Christ lives in us [Gal 2:20] and we are to yield to his life in us. We are to put off the old man and put on the new [Eph 4:22-24].
Walk in truth – 2 Jn 4; 3 Jn 4 – the Bible is the word of God and it is true. So, we are to walk in God’s words. We are to be in line with God’s words; not out of line. There is no way to obey what he says if you don’t know what he said. Read the book daily.
Walk by faith – 2 Cor 5:7 – faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God [Rom 10:17]. We walk by faith when we trust God and believe what God said.
Walk in the Spirit – Gal 5:16 – we are to yield to the Spirit of God in us and not to the flesh. We are led by the Spirit of God when we are the sons of God. You cannot walk in the Spirit and please the flesh. These are contrary to each other. Many Christians today are trying to please the Spirit and the flesh at the same time. But they that are in the flesh cannot please God [Rom 8:1, 4, 8].
Walk in the light – 1 Jn 1:7 – walk so that everything you think, everything you say, everything you do is exposed to the light. Be the same in private as you are in public. Be the same in thought as you are in action. Be the same with your heart as you are with your lips. Do not walk in darkness
Walk in love – Eph 5:2 – love God with all your heart and love the brethren as Christ loved us. Love should be the motive for everything you do [1 Cor 13:1-8].
Walk in wisdom – Col 4:5 – Paul said, “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” Wisdom begins with the fear of God [Acts 9:31]. So, when we walk in wisdom we don’t walk in the fear of man. God hath not given us the spirit of fear. Therefore, we walk as an example to men that they might see Christ in us and not find a legitimate cause for reproach.
Conclusion: remember you are a new creature in Christ, with the truth of God’s words, the faith of God, the Spirit of God, the light of God, the love of God and the wisdom of God to guide you. Walk in these things.
