I Am Not Ashamed Rom.1:16 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Paul said, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. But sometimes, it seems that we are ashamed of the gospel. We can be reluctant to bring it up around family or friends. So, today we are going to find some scriptures to encourage us to tell others when we feel reluctant to do so. We should not be ashamed because:
The gospel is the power of God unto salvation – Rom 1:16 – Our acquaintances have no other way to be saved apart from hearing and believing the gospel. We must tell them.
Jesus is not ashamed of us – Heb 2:11-12 – if Jesus is not ashamed to call us brethren after all we have done, we should not be ashamed to call him our Lord after all he has done for us!!
God through us is glorified – 1 Pet 4:13-16 – we are to bring glory to God in our bodies and in our spirits and there is no greater way to do that than to be a partaker of Christ’s sufferings. If we suffer because of telling others about Christ, it is for God’s glory.
God hath not given us the spirit of fear – 2 Tim 1:7-12 – it is, generally, fear that holds us back from saying what the Lord wants us to say. But we should have no fear to be a partaker of the afflictions of the gospel because God is able to keep that which we have committed unto him. You have nothing to lose [Phil 1:20-21].
It is they, not we, who should be ashamed – Titus 2:7-8 – Jesus Christ, through his sound speech, put the Pharisees to shame. We should do likewise as we respond to others’ taunts with the words of God [2 Tim 2:15].
Conclusion: we have nothing of which to be ashamed when it comes to Jesus and the gospel. We should not let that emotion hold us back when God is leading us to tell another person about him.
