I Shall Send Thee Jer. 1:7 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In Jer. 1:7 the Lord said to Jeremiah, Thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee…” We are ambassadors for Christ and must go where we are sent. The Father sent Jesus to this world [Jn. 20:21]. Jesus sent his disciples to preach [Jn. 20:21]. The Holy Spirit and the church sent Paul and Barnabas out of the church to preach [Acts 13:3-4]. We are sent to preach [Rom 10:14-15]. Like the Lord said in Matt 9:37, “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.”
We must remember every day that we are on the mission field. On any given day we may be sent by the Lord on a divine appointment to tell someone about Jesus. The right response when you are sent by Jesus is:
Go where you are sent – the Lord has divine appointments for you literally every day. You need to be sensitive enough to the leadership of the Holy Spirit to go where he is sending you to go. And if he is leading you to go into the ministry full-time or to go to the mission field, then you need to go.
Go to all to whom you are sent – it doesn’t make any difference if the Lord is sending you to your neighbor or to your family member or to your co-workers or to your boss or to rich or to poor. You need to go to anyone to whom the Lord sends you.
Say what God commands you to say – the Lord Jesus Christ never dealt with people the same way. He said to them whatever God wanted him to say [Jn. 8:28]. We need to be led by the Spirit and filled with the Spirit to say whatever God wants us to say. Develop an arsenal of memorized verses the Spirit can use to speak through you. Get in that Bible so that the Lord can direct you to passages of scripture he wants you to show another person.
Conclusion: the harvest truly is plenteous but the laborers are few. You need to wake up every morning and tell the Lord I am ready for you to send me anywhere you want me to go. And then go when he sends you and say what he wants you to say!!
