Leviathan Is. 27: 1 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In this study of Leviathan, you will see the bodily appearance of the devil. The devil is a spirit but he has a physical presence, as well.
He is both a serpent and a dragon.
Dragon – Rev 12:3 – he’s a seven headed great red dragon with 10 horns and 7 crowns on his heads. The 10 horns represent 10 kings during the Tribulation, Dan 7:7, 23-24 and Rev 17:2. The 7 heads represent 7 world rulers who have ruled [or will rule] over Israel, and the world, for that matter. These are Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome and Mystery Babylon. These empires were all ruled by men who typify the antichrist.
Serpent – Rev 12:7-9 – he’s also a serpent – the old serpent is called the Devil and Satan – when the Lord calls him “the old serpent” that takes us all the way back to Gen 3:1-4, 13-14 [see 2 Cor 11:3, he’s still up to his old tricks] – and according to Rev 12:4-14 he’s still after Israel.
He appears in the Tribulation.
The Antichrist – Rev 13:1-9 – During the Tribulation the devil [this dragon] will give the antichrist [the beast] his power, his seat and great authority and the world will worship the dragon and the beast until the end of the tribulation. During the Tribulation, the devil will inhabit the body of the antichrist [2 Thes 2:3-10] who will be trodden under foot at the end of the Tribulation [Rom 16:20; Is 14:12-20] – notice in the context of this passage [Is 14:29] Isaiah describes this serpent as a fiery flying serpent – Moses made a fiery serpent on a pole in Num 21:8-9 and when you see it on medics today the serpent has WINGS.
His body is destroyed at the end of the Tribulation and he is bound 1,000 years.
Ashes – At the end of the Tribulation, this physical dragon/serpent will apparently be burned to ashes [Ezek 28:11-19, particularly v.18] and Satan, himself, will be bound in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years [Rev 20:1-2].
He is further described in Job 41.
The entire chapter describes the body of the dragon in much detail. Look especially at the following verses:
- He’s fierce – v.10
- He has scales – v.15-17
- He’s fire-breathing – v.19-21
- He’s hard hearted – v.24
- He is indestructible by earthly weapons – v.25-29
- He’s unequaled and fearless – v.33
- He’s king over the children of pride – v.34
Thank God, according to Is 27:1, when Jesus returns this dragon is slain and punished!!!
