The Lord Will Be Known Is. 42:9-16 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Many times, in the Old Testament, things are done by which everyone affected will know that God is the Lord. Both Israel and Egypt knew that God is the Lord by the miracles that were done at the Exodus. See Exodus 6:7 and 7:5. Notice how many times in Ezekiel 20 the Lord is known by the things he does. See Ezek 20:12, 20, 26, 38, 42, 44.
In Isaiah 42:9-16 there are four things by which the Lord will be known. He will be known by:
His fulfillment of prophecy – Isaiah 42:9 – see Revelation 19:10, Romans 4:17, Isaiah 46:9-10.
His expansion of praise – Isaiah 42:10-12 – see Psalm 96:1-13, 97:1, 98:4, 7, 8, Isaiah 52:9, and Isaiah 55:12.
His destruction of his enemies – Isaiah 42:13-15 – notice that the Lord is mighty, Ps 24:8, 78:65-66. He is a man of war [Exodus 15:3, Revelation 19:11-16]. He roars as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is destructive [2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Joel 2:3]. They will sing a new song of victory [Ps 98:1].
His salvation of Israel – Isaiah 42:16 – Israel is currently blind [Isaiah 44:18]. But their blindness will pass when Jesus returns to save them [Romans 11:25-27]. The Lord makes the darkness light [see John 1:4-11], and he makes the crooked straight [Isaiah 45:2, Luke 3:5].
Conclusion: And through all of this he does not forsake Israel.
