Isaiah 60:12-22 The Glory of Jerusalem

The Glory of Jerusalem Is 60:12-22 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In this passage, Is 60:13 says, “I will make the place of my feet glorious,” see 1 Chr 28:2, Ps 99:5 for this is a reference to Jerusalem and Israel.  When Jesus returns the glory of Jerusalem and Israel will be:

Martial Glory – Is 60:12 – “those nations shall be utterly wasted” – Israel will have military supremacy under the command of the King of kings and the Lord of lords – Ps 47:2-3; Ps 2:8-9; Rev 19:15; Matt 25:31-46

Sacred Glory – Is 60:13 – “beautify my sanctuary” – the temple will be the supreme “sacred” site in the world Ezek 43:1-7; Zech 14:16-19.

Civic Glory – Is 60:14-15 – “The city of the Lord” – before Jerusalem was known as the “bad” city and is referred to in Rev 11:8 as Sodom and Egypt – but when Jesus returns the city is gloriously changed Ezek 48:35; Ps 46:4-5; Is 62:1-4.

Economic Glory – Is 60:16a, 17a – “suck the milk of the Gentiles” – Is 61:6; Is 49:23.

Messianic Glory – Is 60:16b, 21b – “I the Lord am thy Saviour” – Is 43:3, 10-11; Is 45:21-25.

Millennial Glory – Is 60:17b-18 – “peace… righteousness… Salvation… Praise” – the peace in the Middle East that has alluded the nations will be a reality under the reign of Jesus – Zech 14:9-11; Is 2:2-4; Is 11:9.

Supernatural Glory – Is 60:19-20 – “the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light” – there will be no need for the sun and moon to shine – Rev 21:23; Ps 27:1.

Prophetic Glory – Is 60:20b-22 – “thy people shall be all righteous” – all of the unfulfilled prophecies will be gloriously fulfilled – Rev 21:4; Rom 11:25-27; Ezek 48; Is 66:7-8.
