1 Tim 3 16 Jesus is God CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO of Jesus Christ is God
The subject of this broadcast concerns the Deity of Christ. That is the belief that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, and not a lesser god or a created god, like some religions teach. The Bible is very clear on this doctrine of the Deity of Christ. We will give you some of the verses that say that Jesus Christ is God.
1 Tim 3:16 – And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. There is no doubt that when Jesus came, he was God in the flesh. Jesus Christ is God.
1 John 5:7 – For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. This is one of the clearest verses on the Trinity in the Bible, showing that there is but one God who is manifest in three persons, one of whom is Jesus Christ (see below, Jn 1:1).
John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word? The Word was God. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth,” (Jn 1:14). The Word is Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is God.
1 John 5:20 – And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Can you tell who the true God is in this verse? It is his Son, Jesus Christ.
Is 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Once again, we find Christ’s deity. The child, who was a son, is the Mighty God, the everlasting Father.
Is 43:11 – I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. When you see LORD (all caps) in the Old Testament, it is a reference to God Almighty. In this verse, God Almighty is the only saviour; there is none other. Therefore, if Jesus Christ is not God, he cannot be the saviour. In Titus, we find God and Jesus expressed interchangeably as the Saviour.
- Titus 1:3 – God our Saviour;
- Titus 1:4 – the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour;
- Titus 2:10 – God our Saviour;
- Titus 2:13 – the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
- Titus 3:4 – God our Saviour; and
- Titus 3:6 – Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Matt 1:23 – Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. One of the names of Jesus, Immanuel, prophesied in Is. 7:14 and quoted in Matt. 1:23, means “God with us.” Can it get any simpler?
Heb 1:8 – But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Here the Father addresses Jesus, the Son, as “O God.” Maybe the religious don’t believe that Jesus is God, but God sure does!!
Conclusion: Jesus Christ is, indeed, God manifest in the flesh.
