Joseph Typifies Christ

Joseph typifies Christ in over 100 ways.  We are going to study 14 principle ways that Jospeh typifies Christ in this lesson.

Both were beloved of their Father.  Gen 37:3.  Matt 3:17.

Both were hated by the people they were sent to save.  Gen 37:4.  Jn 15:18.

Both were rejected by the people over whom they would reign.  Gen 37:8.  Jn 19:15; Lk 19:14..

Both were envied.  Gen 37:11.  Matt 27:18.

There was a conspiracy to slay them both.  Gen 37:18.  Lk 20:19-20.

Both were sold for pieces of silver.  Gen 37:28.  Matt 26:14-15.

Both were servants.  Gen 39:4.  Phil 2:7.

Both were tempted to sin.  Gen 39:7-9.  Lk 4:10; Heb 4:15.

The Spirit of God was in them both.  Gen 41:38.  Jn 3:34.

Both were given authority.  Gen 41:40-41.  Jn 5:26-27; Mk 1:27.

To both, men bow the knee.  Gen 41:43.  Phil 2:9-10.

Both were saviors.  Gen 45:7; 47:25.  Jn 4:42.

Both were 30 years old when they began their “ministries”.  Gen 41:46.  Lk 3:23.

As Joseph made himself known to his brethren so Jesus will make himself known to Israel.  Gen 45:1-5.  Zech 12:10.

From just this brief study you can see the many ways that Joseph typifies Christ.  He is the greatest type of Christ in the Bible.
