Upon reading this verse it is easy to think that it is all about salvation by works and legalism. But in this message we want to show you that Jesus was speaking here of something very practical.

If you look at our country, you can see that they have taken the Ten Commandments out of the schools and courthouses and have tried to remove them from most other public places. This is because they do not love the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” In fact, the reverse is also true. If you do not love Him, you will not keep His commandments.

This country loves a lot of other things besides the Lord Jesus Christ and you can tell that by the way they hate His commandments. They don’t want Him anywhere in sight. They don’t want any more light coming from the words of God that are written in those commandments because they want to do the things that are contrary to the words of God. The problem is that we are in perilous times and people are stuck on themselves and filled with lusts. They love the pleasures of sin for a season over eternal life with Jesus Christ (Matt. 24:12, Mark 8:38, 1 John 3:23, 3:16, 1 Tim. 2:1)

Love one another (1 John 3:23)
