The Kingdom Study Lesson 1
Satan’s Fall
In the introduction to this series we saw how the kingdom and who is running it is one of the main themes in the word of God. The two kingdoms that we are studying in this series are the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Heaven. In this lesson we will look at how everything got started and who was the first one in charge of these kingdoms.
In Genesis 1:1 we see that God created the heaven and the earth. Then in Genesis 1:2 we see that the earth is without form and void. Did God created it without form and void or did something happen in between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 that caused the earth to be without form and void. Something happened in between these verses that caused it to become without form and void. If you read Isaiah 45:18 you will see that when God created the earth he FORMED it to be INHABITED. There is more evidence to this fact, but for the sake of this study we will not go into all the detail here. To look at some of this evidence look back to the study we did on creation. With this being said that makes what happens in Genesis 1:3 – 2:3 what we call the recreated earth.
Satan would have been a part of this original creation but not as Satan. In the original creation we see that his name was Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12-16) and that as Lucifer his position was the anointed cherub that covereth (Ezekiel 28:12-17). Now many will argue about whom the latter passage is discussing but the truth is that God is addressing Satan through a pagan king. There is no earthly king that will fit the description we see in this passage.
Before his fall Lucifer held a very high position in regards to the created things of God. If you notice in Isaiah 14:13 it is said that he has a throne. Note that this throne is not in heaven because in his fall he said that he would ascend into heaven and exalt his throne above the stars of God. Therefore we see that as Lucifer he had a connection with the earth and whatever was on it. Since the kingdom of Heaven is always connected with the earth and someone being in charge of it then we say that Lucifer had the kingdom of Heaven.
Now Isaiah said that God formed the earth to be inhabited. Therefore there was some kind of spiritual beings on this earth. These beings could have been like angels and Satan was over them. Now in the Old Testament Angels are referred to as sons of God (Genesis 6:1 ; Job 1:6 ; 2:1 and 38:7). Later in this study you will see how that the sons of God are connected with the kingdom of God. Therefore we say that Lucifer had the kingdom of God. Therefore in the original creation Lucifer had both kingdoms.
In both of the passages we looked at, Isaiah and Ezekiel, we see that Satan was corrupted by his beauty and wisdom and became prideful and sinned against God. As a result he lost both of the kingdoms that he possessed. God destroyed the original earth with a flood this why water is covering the earth in Genesis 1:2 and has to be removed in Genesis 1:6-8 as a part of the recreation of the earth. As a result of the destruction of this earth whatever the beings were that we on the earth would have also been destroyed. This is why in the recreation when God created man he told him to REPLENISH the earth (Genesis 1:28). Obviously there was something here on the original earth.
This flood from Genesis 1:2 that deals with Lucifer is talked about in 2 Peter 3:4-7. Many will try to say that this passage is talking about Noah’s Flood but if you examine the scripture carefully you will see that this flood and Noah’s flood cannot be the same.( This is why the earth is said to be established on the floods, note the plural and not flood in Psalm 24:2) We will compare the two below.
Flood Connected with Lucifer’s Fall
1) Earth is in the water and out of the water 2 Peter 3:5
2) Everything Dark Genesis 1:1-2
3) Water removed in 1 Day supernaturally Genesis 1:6-8
4) No social system left 2 Peter 3:5-6
Flood Connected with Noah
1) Whole earth was covered Genesis 7:17-20
2) Not Dark Genesis 8:6
3) Water removed in 150 days naturally Genesis 8:1-14
4) Social system left (Noah & Sons & animals) Genesis 8:20-22
So it is plain to see that the flood of 2 Peter 3:5-6 is connected with Lucifer and his fall and this solves the problem of why the earth is without form and void in Genesis 1:2. Also as a result of Lucifer’s sin and fall we see that he loses both kingdoms. After the fall he is called Satan and this is interesting because Satan means adversary. So when God recreates the earth and puts man on it he will have an adversary (1 Peter 5:8) and as we will see in the next lesson the adversary shows up and man will be dealing with him for a long time.
