Lest Ye Fall 1 Cor. 10:12 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. A Christian walk, by definition, means that you are always moving. We may have the idea that we have arrived, and we park it there. Stop Bible, prayer, church attendance, and tell me you are still there. Wander around on the internet, TV, movies, or wrong music and tell me that you are still there. Fall into sin, take heed lest ye fall. [1Cor.10:11] we have this Bible because there are examples to admonish us, or WARN us.
[Ex.17:8-14] Joshua is:
- called for service,
- obedient,
- successful,
- and God has more planned
- God has the same for every one of you!
[Num.14:6-9] Joshua is:
- Chosen as one of the twelve spies
- One of two that have a good report
- Testify on God’s behalf
- They go in, others die [14:37-38]
[Josh.5:12: -15] Joshua
- Meets the captain of the Lord’s host
- Gets very unusual instructions
- Success can only be attributed to God!
[Josh.7:1-5] Achan’s sin and the battle of Ai
Wow, has Joshua seen some stuff to this point in his life?
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
[Josh.7:7] Defeated by the Enemy (things don’t go your way)
- You question God
- Death of a child or spouse, you get mad at them, then God
- People have left the church, stopped prayer, and Bible over one event
- You question your faith
- Doubt that God is there or that he cares
- You question your salvation
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
[Josh.7:8] Disgraced by the Enemy (you experience shame)
- How am I going to explain this?
- To the balance of Israel, or to your family
- Look at the position that you have put me in!
- Example of children , now grown, and have no contact with the parents because of their Christianity.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
[Josh.7:9] Doomed by the Enemy (it’s over and there is no hope)
- Everyone will hear
- Surrounded and no way out
- Cut off our name – we’re done!
- Also, going to make you look bad
- Defeated and disgraced, now you have been overtaken by FEAR
Joshua had his moments but made the right choices!
[Josh.7:6]
- Rent his clothes, came with a broken spirit and a contrite heart- humility
- Face down before God, the first and only place to run to, not to sin
- With the elders that grieved with him, you have brothers and sisters that want to help you through this war
God can do some things when we make the right choices
[Josh 7:10] The fact is the Lord never left you while you complained!
[Josh7:11-12] He will identify the problem for you
[Josh 7:13] he will show you the solution
[Josh.24:15] “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”
