Ministry Is Work, Acts 13:1-3 – Tim Haveman

Ministry is Work

Acts 13:2, “Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the WORK whereunto I have called them”.

The work takes grace – Acts 14:26.  The gospel of grace, the word of grace, and the sufficiency of grace.

The work takes preparation – Prov 24:27.  Prepare is to fit or adapt for a particular purpose.  Salvation is preparation.  Discipleship is preparation.  Deputation is preparation.

The work takes works – Acts 13:2.  You have to resist the devil, Acts 13:10.  You have to be joyful, Acts 13:52.  You have to stay humble, Acts 14:15.  You have to keep the work going through others.  Teamwork makes the dream work.

The work takes rest – Gen 2:2.  You will continue in the work by resting.  Mk 6:32 come apart… and rest a while.  Ministry is work, but to keep working in the ministry, you need to rest.
