Phil 2:10 says, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth”.  That’s because the name of Jesus is a:

Exalted Name – a name which is above every name [Phil 2:9].  His name is far greater than Mohammed, Allah, the name of any pope, Mary, any religious leader, any god, any political leader, any world ruler, any athlete, any musician, any actor, anybody.  Whatever name comes to mind when you think of great people, his name is by far greater than them all.

Holy Name – every knee should bow.  Often when you see any being bowing to the Lord, they proclaim his holiness.  We say, “Holy, Holy, Holy”.  He is our sinless and perfectly righteous Savior.

Fearful Name – the devil’s tremble and worship him.  When Jesus returns to the earth, the kings, the great men and the mighty men are all going to hide themselves from him out of fear.  The perfect combination with him is the fear of the Lord and the love of the Lord.

Powerful Name – the name by which we are saved.  This is the name of the creator, the Saviour, the author, the judge, the deliverer, the ruler of the world when he returns.  Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.

Benevolent Name – he gave himself for us.  He provides our every need.  By his grace we are strong when we are weak.  And his mercy is limitless.

Good Name – the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.  Often men use his name as an expletive, which is blasphemous.  Men in public places are often forbidden to pray in his name.  But that’s the name that God hears when we pray.  God connects prayer promises with his name.  Don’t be ashamed of that worthy name.

Exclusive Name – the Lord Jesus Christ.  “There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved,” Acts 4:12.

Conclusion: Oh the glory and majesty of the name of Jesus.  Never use his name as an expletive.  When others use his name derogatorily or deny his name, stand up for him.  Proclaim his name.  He is worthy.
