Names of Jesus “R” Part II CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

When you consider the names and titles of the Lord Jesus Christ, there are so many that we must deal with them alphabetically just to do them justice. There are many wonderful things that you will learn about Jesus when you study the names of Jesus.  Today, we’ll study some of the names of Jesus and his titles that start with the letter “R.”

Rock – 1 Cor 10:4 with Deut 32:31 and then Matt 16:16-18.

Root – Rev 22:16 the root and offspring – he is the root because Adam is the son of God who God said was made “in our likeness” – notice the typology in Boaz, the redeemer kinsman, and Ruth, who is a type of the church – David comes from them – then notice in both of Jesus’ genealogies he goes back to David – therefore, in Matt 22:41-45 the son of David is called Lord.

Rose of Sharon – SOS 2:1 – the rose comes in various colors [red for blood, white for purity, yellow for deity] – it is fragrant [Jesus has the odor of a sweet smell] – most precious of the flowers [as is Jesus who is better than men and angels – the roses in Sharon were the best] – Sharon is a plain in a valley where the roses grew naturally and were subject to beasts [Jesus was planted by God, not man, and he was trampled by beasts, Ps 22] – they are free, not sold [Jesus is given freely].
