Colossians 1:14-18 Preeminence of Christ CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
This lesson is about the preeminence of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is preeminent:
In Redemption – v.14 – he shed his blood for the full redemption of all mankind – Heb 9:13-14; 10-10-14
In Forgiveness – v.14 – he forgave when you and I wouldn’t forgive and when we couldn’t forgive – imagine a priest taking away his preeminence by making you confess to him
In Likeness – v.15 – he is the image of the invisible God – Jn 14:9, Heb 1:3
In Birth – v.15 – he is the firstborn of every creature – yet, he is not a created god – he is God manifest in the flesh as the virgin born child of Mary – he is the first person that was ever born of God; Adam and Eve were created and all of their children were born of them
In Creation – v.16 – he created everything; everything was created by him, Jn 1:1-3 – we did not evolve
In Power – v.17 – he is the power that keeps the universe together
In Dominion – v.18 – he is the head of the church and he is over everything in the universe
In Resurrection – v.18 – he is the first to rise from the dead who will never die again; Moses rose but he will die in the tribulation; Enoch never died
