Preparing For Missions Conference
We should be preparing for missions conference starting this weekend. The Lord has directed me to Acts 13:1-3 as the text we should discuss tonight that will help us to know what we should be doing to prepare.
Before Paul and Barnabas were sent out of Antioch on their first missionary journey they were doing things we should be doing.
Preparing for Missions Conference:
Minister to the Lord. In Lev 7:35 the priests were to minister to the Lord. In 1 Sam 2:11 Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. We are priests who are to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ, 1 Pet 2:5. These sacrifices are found in Heb 13:15-16. Offer praise, offer thanksgiving, do good, and communicate, Phil 4:15. You should be giving and asking God what he would have you to give and how often.
Fast and Pray. In fasting, when you pray it is much easier to discern to leading of the Holy Spirit because you have eliminated fleshly distractions. You’re more likely to hunger and thirst for righteousness. Notice, as they ministered to the Lord and fasted then the Holy Spirit spoke. And they knew exactly what he was telling them to do.
Obey. The Holy Spirit told them to separate Saul and Barnabas for work whereunto he called them. And they sent them away, after laying hands on them. We’ll do this next Wednesday with Auré. But are there others that the Lord wants to train and go? If so, obey the Lord and prepare to go where he would have you to go, when he would have you to go, like Robert did.
As you are preparing for missions conference, do these things and God will, Lord willing, send more. He will answer our prayers we have prayed to the Lord of the harvest.
