Philippians 4:6-7 Quit Worrying CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
A lot of people we meet are concerned and careful about something – many things. It is in the nature of humans to worry. Worrying is a sin and reveals a lack of trust in God and a lack of gratitude and a lack of fellowship with Him. We have got to get past this. Lk 10:41-42 – Mary, Martha, “Thou art troubled about many things. But one thing is NEEDFUL, and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” You say, I would love to have that, but how? Here is how:
- Pray over everything – Leave nothing out; Pray without ceasing; I Pet 5:7; Matt 6:25,34; Lk 18:1; the thing you leave out no matter how small will creep up and get you – “little foxes spoil the vine.” In those really desperate times, humbly and earnestly pray – supplication – Gethsemane – today everyone is throwing out their chest and talking big – I want “my” rights, I deserve clemency because they are so bad, etc. This is no way to talk to God
- Be thankful for everything – I Thes 5:8; Col 4:2; Eph 5:20; because Rom 8:28 – if you’ve prayed about it, God’s going to do it good
- Don’t complain to God (v. 6) – He said, “your requests” not your complaints – the Jews murmured and complained in the wilderness – Job didn’t complain and charge God foolishly
- Conclusion– The Peace passeth understanding (v. 7) – That peace will keep your heart and mind – But no peace without: Purity, Jas 3:17 Righteousness, Heb 7:2 Glory to God, Lk 2:14
