Reap Life Everlasting Gal 6:8 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In the prior broadcast, we saw that a great defense to sin is to be able to see the corruption that comes into full harvest way down the road. When you can get a good picture of that, you are far less likely to sow to the flesh today.
Likewise, you should take a long look down the road in spiritual matters, as well. There is spiritual reaping as well as carnal reaping. You would do well to consider what it means to reap life everlasting. If you sow to the Spirit you will reap:
Rewards at the judgment seat of Christ – 1 Cor 3:11-15 – by working for the Lord now you reap rewards in eternity. That’s a long way off but what you do today will affect this outcome. You can’t spend your younger years living to yourself and then start working for the Lord at the end. You start now and lay up rewards for yourself there. In Rev 4:9-10 w/ Rev 5:8-10, the twenty four elders seem to be representative of the church age saints. Those who have received crowns at the judgment seat of Christ will cast their crowns at the feet of Jesus as they worship him.
Souls around the throne of God – 1 Thes 2:19-20 – by leading souls to Jesus Christ now, you reap souls that you are going to see in heaven that you led to the Lord along the way.
Treasure in heaven – Matt 6:19-21 – by giving now, it is possible to lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven.
Salvation with eternal glory – 2 Tim 2:10-12; Rom 8:17 – by suffering now, we will be glorified together with Christ in eternity. Our reign with him is dependent upon our suffering with him now.
Golden vials full of odours – Rev 5:8 – by praying now, we are laying up vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. In Ps 56:8, you find bottles of tears. And think of the answers to prayer that you reap.
White raiment for clothing – Rev 3:18; 2 Cor 5:2-3 – by yielding to righteousness now, you will have white raiment in heaven. It appears that some will be “naked” in heaven. Thus, it is best to sow to the Spirit in righteousness so that you have white raiment in heaven.
Conclusion: You don’t really need to spend all your time working for yourself and living in pleasure now like you see so many other Christians doing. You need to look much further down the road, all the way to eternity. There you will see that sowing to the Spirit now and reaping life everlasting then will be worth more than any pleasure you could seek now!!
