Submission

Submission

The Bible clearly lays out God’s order for authority and submission in our life. We cause our own problems when we step outside the authority that God has placed us under. Your head is not just a “boss” that you must obey. Your head is an authority figure placed in your life to help lead, guide and protect you.

God is above all               [1 Cor.11:3]

[1 Chronicles 29:11]
11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

[Ephesians 4:6]  “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all”

God is the head of Christ             [1 Cor.11:3]

[Phil. 2:5-11] he humbled himself and became obedient (submission)

Christ is the head of Man             [1 Cor.11:3]

[Matt.28:18] all power is given to him in heaven and earth

[Phil. 2:9] Christ has a name that is above every other name

[Jas.4:7] Submit yourselves therefore to God

Man is the head of the woman                 [1 Cor.11:3]

[1 Cor.11:8-9] the woman was created for the man, not the other way around

[Gen.2:18, 21-25] a help meet for him

[Gen.5:1-2] Every woman has a man’s name, either her father or husband.

[Eph.5:22] [Col.3:18] Wives are to be in submission to their husbands

[1 Pet.3:7] The woman is a weaker vessel, not less valuable, and easily deceived

[1Tim.2:13-14] The man makes a decision to sin, while the woman is deceived

Man is the head of the children                                [1 Tim.3:4-5]

[Eph.6:1-3] Some shared responsibility, “children, obey your parents” & “Honour thy father and    mother” [1 Tim.5:10] one of the wives duties to bring up children, some authority over them. (BOTH patents must be in total agreement on every aspect of raising their children or there will be confusion.)

Note:    Children are to obey their parents in the lord.

There is a point where you are no longer a child [1Cor.13:12]

Obedience is conditioned upon God’s rules

We all are to Honour our father and mother [Ex.20:12]

  • Honor is: manifestation of respect or reverence, not agreement with
  • [2 Pet.2:17] This is a respect or reverence for their position
  • Gideon and his father [Jud.6:25-32]
  • Asa and his mother [1 Kings 15:11-13]
  • Both of these parents were outside the will of God.

Man

His head is his father until such time that he leaves that authority.

(Shared parental duties with mother, Eph.6:1) Then his head is Jesus Christ.

[Numbers 1:3] “Twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war…”

God had a time when a boy became a man. [Numbers 32:11]

Men Today you can go to war at eighteen, and other things start at Twenty-one.

Usually when a man stops taking support from his father he is on his own.

Woman

Her head is her father until such time that she marries another man.

Then he becomes her head.

Special conditions:         Death of her husband – she becomes a widow

  • She can be married again [1 Cor.7:39] [Rom.7:1-3] submission to a husband
  • She can be taken in by family [1 Tim.5:3-4, 8]    submission to a father or uncle etc.
  • She can be taken in by the church [1 Tim.5: 9-14] submission to a pastor
  • She has special protection from God [Prov.15:25] [James 1:27]
