The Doctrine of Eternal Security John 10:27-30 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
In this text Jesus says two things (My sheep hear my voice and I know them) that are characteristic of eternal security (Matt.7:22-23). If He knows who you are then that is the seal of eternal security (Jude 24; 2 Tim2:19).
In the Church, saved people have several things that happen to them that prevent them from losing their salvation. Baptism by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ made you into a member of Christ’s flesh and bones (1 Cor.12:13, Eph.5:30, 2:6,4:30). Jesus would have to have an amputation to remove you from His body because you are made one of His members.
Adoption by Jesus Christ makes you a Son of God (John1:12, 1 John 3:2). Nothing can separate you from the love of God IN Christ Jesus (Romans8:38-39). You have passed from death to life (John5:24). Jesus will in NO WISE cast you out (John6:37).
Paul’s reference to being a castaway has nothing to do with keeping his salvation it has to do with being “shelved” in the ministry (1 Cor. 9:37). The Lord made it plain that when you get saved, you KNOW that you have ETERNAL life (1 John5:13). He said that he will never leave you or forsake you (Heb. 13:5). ALLChristians will appear before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor.5:10).
The following verses are not proof texts that you can lose your salvation: John 17:12 concerns Judas Iscariot who was a devil (Jn 6:70-71); Matt. 7:21-23 concerns people he NEVER knew; 1 Tim. 4:1 concerns a departure from the faith concerning marriage and meat [like Catholicism]; Gal. 5:4 concerns men who seek to be justified by the law and not by faith; they fall from the grace of Eph 2:8-9 before they ever get saved; 2 Peter 2:20 concerns false teachers and preachers in the context, not saved people.
Eternal Security is a doctrine that is established by God Almighty not by men.
