The Light of the Eyes Prov 15:30 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
This broadcast is about the light of the eyes. Light rejoices the heart – so if you want a joyful heart you have to have light in your eyes – that light comes from two sources:
Jesus Christ – John 9:5-6, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay” – Zac Lentz used the expression, “That lightened my eyes” concerning the quail dog that found a dead bird after a thorough search.
The words of God – Ps 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” They give you understanding – Ps 119:130 “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” When I read Ps 119 for the first time, “the light came on.” The light from these words will tell you where you are going – 2 Pet 1:19, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” This light from God’s words is necessary because the “world lieth in darkness.”
But there are things that can obscure that light and cause your heart to miss the rejoicing:
The devil – 2 Cor 4:3-4, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” Getting saved will take care of this problem – Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
Evil – Matt 6:22-23, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Is 5:20, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
Hatred – 1 John 2:10-11, “He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”
Sin – 1 John 1:5-7, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
