Luke 1: 26- 47 The Mother of Jesus Christ. CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
What sort of woman did God choose to be the mother of his Son? Be that kind of mother if you want to be the best you can be. She was:
A Virgin – v.27 – she kept herself for her husband – Heb 13:4.
Espoused to a Good Man – v.27 – Joseph was a God-fearing man, Matt 1, Lk 2:41 – he was a family man, Mk 6:3, Lk 2:51-52 – he was a working man, Matt 13:55, Mk 6:3.
Favoured by the Lord – v.28-30 – you’re not going to find favor with the Lord by seeking favor with your peers – she sought to please God and as a result she gained favor with him.
Willing to Live by Faith – v.37-38, 45 – “for with God nothing shall be impossible” – “be it unto me according to thy word” – “blessed is she that believed” – Zacharias was made “dumb” because he didn’t believe, Lk 1:20 – living by faith is simply living in accordance with what the Bible says – this is not a rule book with which you need to comply – it is a book that, when you believe what it says, works supernaturally in you to accomplish what it says – men live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Willing to Humble Herself and Get Saved – v.46-47 – “she magnified the Lord” and she “rejoiced in God [her] Saviour” – she needed a Saviour and in spite of being chosen to be the mother of the Messiah she humbled herself and was saved.
