Ps 25:4 says, “Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.” So, the Lord has some paths that we can find in the Bible and these are the paths upon which you and I should walk through this life. In prior broadcasts we have studied the paths of life and the paths of light. Today, we are going to discuss the paths of righteousness.
The paths of righteousness are found in Ps 23:3, which says, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” The paths of righteousness are:
The paths of uprightness – Prov 2:13, where you walk uprightly. 2 Sam 22:24, On these paths you keep yourself from your iniquity. Ps 7:10, on these paths God is your defense. Ps 37:37 on these paths is peace. Ps 84:11 on these paths are good things from the Lord (i.e., Ps 112:4). Prov 10:9 when you walk on these paths, you walk surely. Prov 29:27 but on these paths, you are an abomination to the wicked. Gal 2:14, you must check the Bible daily to be sure you are not veering off the path of uprightness.
The paths of the righteous – Prov 2:20, where you follow people who walk in righteousness. It is essential to have good friends who are walking on the paths of righteousness. If you are not already, you will soon be just like the people you hang around with. Prov 13:20, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” So, walk with friends who are on the paths of righteousness. You can follow them. 1 Cor 11:1, Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” You can follow a man along the paths of the righteous. As long as he is doing right, don’t be afraid to follow him.
Conclusion: the beautiful thing about walking on the paths of righteousness is that they always lead out at the right place. And when you walk the paths of uprightness and follow those who are walking on the paths of the righteous, you set the right example for others who follow you.
