What The Lord Does When He Returns Revelation 19:13-21 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
Last week we saw Jesus’ principal names and the armies he leads at his return – now we will see what he does – it’s going to be bad Zephaniah 1:14-18
19:15 He smites the nations with a sharp sword proceeding out of his mouth –
That sword proceeding out of his mouth is the word of God [Revelation 19:21, 1:16, Hebrews 4:12-13, 2 Thessalonians 2:8] and my friend that sword is given to you – what are you doing with it Ephesians 6:17
19:15 He rules with a rod of iron –
We call this the “iron-fisted” ruler – but you haven’t seen anything yet – he will break the nations like a potter’s vessel [Psalms 2:9, Revelation 2:27] – he’ll smash them to pieces – you ask, “How will he so easily destroy so many powerful nations at once?” – according to Isaiah 40:15 they are but small things compared to him [as small as the drop of a bucket]
19:15 He treads the winepress of the wrath of God –
That’s why his vesture is dipped in blood Isaiah 63:1-6, Revelation 14:19-20 – that’s why we don’t sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic – the references in that hymn are supposed to be about the second coming of Jesus not the defeat of the Southern armies by the North
19:17-18 He feeds the fowls –
In Ezekiel 39:17-22, notice that the beasts get in on this feast, also – look at the context of Matthew 24:27-28, Luke 17:37 and now you understand that the references in both of those places are to this great feast following the destruction of millions of the Lord’s enemies trying to destroy Israel [Note: the angel is standing in the sun Hebrews 1:7, Jude 13:20]
19:19-21 He destroys the beast, the false prophet and the kings of the earth –
The beast and false prophet are cast alive into the lake of fire – Isaiah 14:16-20 – the remnant are the kings and there armies – they are destroyed with the sword and fed to the birds – as we say, “that’s for the birds”
