When the seventh angel sounds, Jesus takes over all the kingdoms of the world, judges the nations, pours out his wrath on some while rewarding others, and then reveals the ark in the temple of God in heaven.

Here are the details:

11:15 – Great voices in heaven make the announcement [see Revelation 11:19; 4:5]

  • The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of the Lord
    • Right now, the devil is the god of this world 2 Corinthians 4:4
    • When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, the devil offered him the glory and the power of all of the kingdoms in the world because they were the devil’s to offer him [Luke 4:5-6]
    • Instead of accepting the devil’s offer, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit and was glorified of all [Luke 4:14-15, a different kind of power and glory]
    • At his trial before Pilate, Jesus professed that his kingdom is not of this world, not yet anyway [John 18:36]
    • When Jesus returns, the devil will be chained in the bottomless pit [Revelation 20:1-3] and Jesus will take over all the kingdoms [Revelation 11:15]
    • This takeover of the world by Jesus is known as the end of the world [Matthew 28:20, 24:3]
    • The government will be upon his shoulder and of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end [Isaiah 9:6-7]
  • Jesus is called Our Lord [1 Corinthians 8:5-6; Ephesians 4:5]
  • Jesus is called His Christ [God’s anointed, Acts 2:36; Psalms 2:2, 8; Acts 4:25-26]
  • Jesus will reign for ever [Isaiah 24:23; Daniel 7:13-14, 18, 27]

11:16 – The 24 elders worship him

11:17 – They have cause for another chorus of praise

– The praise is directed toward Jesus who is called Lord God Almighty [Isaiah 9:6]

11:18 – The nations are angry [Psalms 2]

– The Lord’s wrath comes [Psalms 110:5-6; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8]

– And the dead are judged – considering that the context is the takeover of the nations, this appears to be the judgment of the nations, which takes place following the Second Advent [Matthew 25:31-46] rather than the White Throne Judgment, which takes place at the end of the millennial reign

11:19 – The temple of God in heaven [Hebrews 9:23-24, from which the earthly temple was patterned] – and in the temple was the ark which was not among the articles that were captured by Nebuchadnezzar [2 Kings 25:13-17] – so God took it

–Lightnings, and voices and thunderings show you that this is the end of the tribulation [Revelation 4:5; 8:5] and the earthquake and hail match Revelation 16:18-21 also at the end of the tribulation
