The Throne of Grace, Heb 4:16

The Throne of Grace

The throne of grace is where God meets with us when we come to him in prayer.  The Lord gives us three instructions regarding his throne of grace.  He says:

Come boldly.  We must get away from the thoughts and distractions down here.  So, we approach his throne.  We don’t drag him through the muck and trouble down here.  We come boldly when we come confidently, 1 Jn 5:14, knowing that we are praying in the will of God.

Obtain mercy.  We need his mercy to even approach him.  We aren’t worthy to come before God in prayer.  But when we obtain his mercy, and we know it, then there is nothing between us to inhibit our audience and fellowship with him.  We can stay with him at his throne as long as it takes.

Find grace. When you have found God’s grace, you will have the help you need in time of need.  His grace is all-sufficient for every need from salvation to heaven.  Don’t be too quick to make your request and then leave before you know you have received his grace.  Wait till you find his grace for your need.

Conclusion: this is the way we ought to pray.
