The Trinity (Part Two)

1 John 5:7

In the previous lesson we looked at verses which showed that the Trinity existed and was a Bible fact. We saw examples of how God showed us his power and Godhead (Trinity) in creation as it says in the book of Romans.

In this lesson we are going to look at further evidence for the Trinity by looking at how God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit act as a unit as well as showing some of the attributes that all three members of the Trinity share.

The Trinity acting as a Unit:

1)  In Creation

  • God (Genesis 1:1,3)
  • Jesus (John 1:1-3)
  • Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2)

2)  The Incarnation (God being manifested in the Flesh)

  • God (John3:16)
  • Jesus (Matthew 1:21,23)
  • Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35)

3)  Redemption

  • God (Hebrews 10:8-12)
  • Jesus (1 Peter 3:18)
  • Holy Spirit (Hebrews 9:14)

4)  Salvation

  • God (Ephesians 1:6)
  • Jesus (John 1:13)
  • Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30)

They all have the same attributes:

According to the word of God, God has certain attributes. The same attributes are given to both the other members of the Trintity.

1) Eternal

  • God (Genesis 1:1)

  • Holy Spirit (Hebrews 9:14)

2)  Omnipotence

  • God (1 Peter 1:5)
  • Jesus (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • Holy Spirit (Romans 15:19)

3)  Omniscience

  • God (Jeremiah 17:10)
  • Jesus (Revelation 2:23)
  • Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:11)

4)  Omnipresence

  • God (Jeremiah 23:24)
  • Jesus (Matthew 18:20)
  • Holy Spirit (Psalm 139:7)

5)  Holiness

  • God (Revelation 15:4)
  • Jesus (Acts 3:14)
  • Holy Spirit (Luke 1:15)

6)  Honesty

  • God (John 7:28)

  • Holy Spirit (1 John 5:6)

7)  Goodness
