In Matt 21:42, Jesus quoted the Psalm that says, “The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.”  There are a number of things that are the Lord’s doing:

The exalting of Jesus Christ – Matt 21:42; Phil 2:9-11 – we certainly praise the Lord and “lift him up” when we glorify him, but exalting the Lord to the highest position in the universe is the Lord’s doing – instead of exalting the Lord, men have exalted men.

The preserving of the words of God – Ps 12:6-7; Ps 68:11; 2 Tim 3:16 – God gave the words, God gives the words, and God preserves the words – we Bible believers sometimes think we preserve his words – certainly we should defend and preach them but the KJV is the Lord’s doing – the more of man you find in this process the more you find modern translations.

The increasing of the Body of Christ – 1 Cor 3:6-9; Eph 2:20-22; 1 Pet 2:4-10; 1 Cor 12:18 – we sow the seed and we reap in the harvest but God gives the increase – and he often uses the Paul’s and the Apollos’ to build – but you see the problem when the work builds around the man and not the Lord – you get a big movement behind the man – building the body of Christ is the Lord’s doing.

The bringing forth of the fruits of the Kingdom of God – Matt 21:43 – the kingdom of God was taken from Israel and given to “a nation” bringing forth the fruits thereof – the kingdom was turned over to Gentiles but principally to “a” nation – it appears that God turned it over to the United States in recent history and over time we have cast the Lord out of his vineyard!

Conclusion: in this country we have chosen to exalt man over Jesus Christ, to produce modern Bibles over the words of God, to increase churches and ministries over the body of Christ and to do what Israel did by casting the Lord out of his vineyard – we may be awaiting miserable destruction [Matt 21:41] unless God does something to intervene – the Supreme Court decision to legalize same sex marriage could be the last straw – in the meantime we are going to continue doing what God gave us to do.
