Trusting Your Own Heart Prov 28: 26 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool according to Prov 28:26. This proverb is contrary to the world’s philosophy. The world says that you need to trust your heart. But you cannot because it is not trustworthy. You are much better off to trust not your own heart. Why? What’s wrong with your heart? It humanizes God, deifies man, rationalizes sin, negates the Bible, ignores judgment, justifies itself, smiles at the devil, rejects anything contrary to itself, and forms its own opinions about things.
What is the condition of your heart? It is:
Deceitful and Desperately Wicked – Jer 17:9-10 – it is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.
Evil – Gen 8:21 – for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth, Mk 7:21-23,
Far From the Lord – Mk 7:6 – this people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Conclusion: Therefore you need to trust in the Lord with all thine heart, Prov 3:5-6. You cannot trust your heart because it is not trustworthy. Ps 37:3-7 says trust in the Lord, delight in him, commit thy way unto him, and rest in the Lord.
