Where There is No Vision Prov. 29:18 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
There are five things in life that you must “see.” You must have a vision of these things or people will perish. As Prov 29:18 says, Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Where there is no vision of:
The Holy Bible, the people perish – Is 29:11 – if Matt 4:4 is true then if you don’t get in your Bible you will not have spiritual life. It’s spiritual suicide to try to live the Christian life apart from the Holy Bible. The words of God are given by inspiration and they breathe spiritual life into you. They nourish your soul. You are born again by the words of God and you are sustained by his words.
The Holiness of God, the people perish – Is 6:1-5; 1 Pet 1:16 – Sin is a killer. The wages of sin is death. Sin is relentless in it’s pursuit of sinners. The only antidote is holiness which you cannot produce on your own. It comes from God. You must “see” God’s holiness to understand your own uncleanness. And you must yield to his holiness to repel and dispel your uncleanness.
Hell, the people perish – Rev 9:17; Lk 16:19-31 – the rich man didn’t believe in hell until he got there. It was too late. His desire was that someone would relate his fate to his brothers so that they would not end up there. God said that if they would not believe his word they would end up there. The Lord even recorded this rich man’s story in the eternal words of God and yet people still perish and wind up in hell by the millions. Look at it; hell is real. You’re going there without Christ!
Heaven, the people perish – 2 Cor 12:1-5 – Hell is not the only option for eternity. Heaven is real. John describes its streets of gold, walls of jasper and gates of pearl. Jesus spoke of it mansions. Paul couldn’t even write about some of the things he heard. Just imagine its glory and grandeur. Choose Christ; choose heaven. [At this point we had an invitation and two men and one teenage boy left with personal workers to receive Christ]. Furthermore, Christians need to remember the judgment seat of Christ so that they don’t lose eternal rewards.
The Harvest, the people perish – Jn 4:35; Acts 16:9 – you must “see” the lost souls outside of the immediate sphere of your family and church friends. Tim Haveman said that you have an 18 month window after a soul gets saved to help him deal with his lost friends. After that, most of his friends are now church people and his “sphere” contains substantially fewer lost people. Thus we must have a vision of the harvest all around us and on the mission field, as well, or they will perish. How many people have you witnessed to in the last few days? Have you lost sight of the harvest?
Conclusion: Get a vision. Get in the Book. Live Holy. Preach hell. Look up to heaven. Enter the harvest!
