Walk As Children of Light Eph. 5:8 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In Eph 5:8 we are to walk as children of light.  That’s because we have become children of light by trusting Jesus Christ as our Savior.  Jn 12:46 says, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”  The Lord said about Paul in Acts 26:18 that he would turn them from darkness to light [1 Pet 2:9 – called you out of darkness into his marvelous light], and from the power of Satan unto God [2 Cor 4:4 – Satan in transformed into an angel of light].

Therefore, according to 1 Thes 5:5, we are children of the light.  So how do we walk as children of light?  We walk as children of light by:

Fellowship with God – 1 Jn 1:5-7.  We are to walk in light with him; not in darkness without him.

Fellowship with God’s people – 2 Cor 6:14 – what communion hath light with darkness?

Keeping your eye single – Lk 11:34-36 – the light of the body eye.  If our eye is single, we are full of light.  If our eye is evil, we are full of darkness.  A single eye is an eye that looks only at the things God wants us to see and only the way that God wants us to see them.

Doing the truth – Jn 3:19-21 – men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  When you do the truth, you love the truth and come to the light.

Wearing the armor of light – Rom 13:12 – cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.  You recognize that you can face a spiritual attack at any moment of any day.  The armor of light protects you in these attacks.

Letting your light shine – 2 Cor 4:6 – God hath shined in our hearts.  Therefore, [Phil 2:15] we are to shine as lights in the world.  Rather than just defend ourselves from the ruler of the darkness, we should go on the offensive and be a light for others to come to Christ.
