Weapons Against Sin. CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

Sin is not to reign in our bodies – we are to not let it have dominion over us.  In order to do that, we have to fight against sin with the weapons against sin that the Lord has given us.

These weapons include the following:

The Word of God – Matt 4:4, 7, 10 – Jesus quoted scripture in response to every temptation of the devil and the devil departed from him.

The Intercession of Christ – Jn 17:9, 15 – Jesus prayed for us that his Father would keep us from the evil.  When we pray we need to remember that he is praying [Rom 8:34] and has prayed for us.

Prayer and Supplication – Matt 26:41 – we are to watch and pray that we enter not into temptation.

Flight – 2 Tim 2:22 – the Bible tells us to “flee also youthful lusts.”  When temptation comes your way, RUN.

Avoidance – Prov 4:15 – we are to avoid the places that and the people who [Prov 1:10] stir up temptations and lustful desires.

Resistance – Jas 4:7 – the Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

The Faithfulness of God – 1 Cor 10:13 – God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able… he’ll make a way to escape.  The Lord will allow you to be tempted up to your limit and then he will give you a way out.  The purpose is for your strength, maturity and reliance upon the Lord.  As a preacher said, “If God doesn’t help you, you will be sunk.”

Conclusion: This sermon is primarily for saved people to learn about the spiritual weapons against sin.  If you are struggling with sin in your life, you need Jesus Christ in you.  If you want someone to show you the gospel from the Bible, raise your hand and we’ll be sure to have someone deal with you.  A lady raised her hand; after preaching the gospel thoroughly, she received Jesus and was saved.
