When God Says No
Deu.3:23-26
What a Great Opportunity We Have!

Introduction:
• Many lessons have been taught on the hinderances of prayer
• God answers prayer, yes, no, or not now.
• Most of mine are no.
• God said NO to some of his main men, so you are in great company
• What can we learn or what should we learn when God says no?

Moses A Friend of God

• Read [Deu.3:23-26], God Told Him No.
• Very clear that God had heard enough, proof of not to try to pester God. (Importunity)
• [Num.20:7-13] Where Moses struck the rock, God told him he would not enter the promise land.
• I imagine that Moses began to pray for God to let him enter in, probably hoping that God would change his mind.
• [Ex.32:7-14] Moses had convinced God to change his mind before
• [Numb.11:11-15] Moses had no problem being straight up with God.
• When God said no, Moses didn’t pout, get mad, quit, or complain
• Illustration of my employees and being told no, you must work.
• [Num.27:12-23] Moses had compassion on the children of Israel.
• [Deu.3:27-28] Told to charge Joshua, encourage and strengthen him, and he did.
• He proved his love for God
When God says no, remember that he is righteous, which means, that his answer is right, always.

David A Man after God’s Own Heart

• Read [2Sam.12:13-19] God told him no.
• Can you imagine the feeling of shame and guilt David had for being the sole reason for the death of that child?
• Illustration of a drug addicted mother and the penalty passed on to her child
• Can you imagine how hard David prayed for that baby?
• [2Sam.12:20] What did David do when told no? Worshiped God
When God says no, remember that he is righteous, which means, that his answer is right, always.
Thank and Praise him. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Thank God for the NO!
Great Opportunity to Worship God!

Paul A Chosen Vessel

• Read [2Cor.12:7-10] God told him no.
• Paul had a unique relationship with God.
• Paul probably had three powerful prayers sent to God.
• Paul got a no, with something much better, God’s Grace
• He found strength, glory, power, and pleasure in that thorn in his flesh
When God says no, remember that he is righteous, which means, that his answer is right, always.
That no opens a flow of God’s grace Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
If all yes, no opportunity to experience God’s grace
Great Opportunity to Experience the Grace of God

Jesus Beloved Son

• Read [Matt.26:36-44] God told him No.
• Ever had to take one for the team? Or been falsely accused?
• Can you imagine dying on a cross? How about for other’s sins?
• God told his own son NO.
• Thanks be to God for that answer! Jesus took a NO, so that I could have a relationship with God!
When God says no, remember that he is righteous, which means, that his answer is right, always.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,
For most of us, the Greatest Gift of All
For the Lost, Greatest Opportunity to have a Relationship with God
