Who Are You in Tune With?
Ephesians 2:1-10
This is a very familiar passage for saved people because we use it frequently to teach salvation by grace through faith without works. But if we look to verse 10, we see that as a result of salvation we should walk in good works as God would have us to walk. The problem comes from the fact that we are still in the flesh and the course of this world and it’s god (verses 2-3) still has pull on us.
In this sermon we are going to use some object lesson from science regarding sound, sound waves, and resonant frequency to show how we can fight the prince of the power of the air and be in tune with God through the Holy Spirit.
Our Adversary:
Our adversary is identified in this passage as the prince of the power of the air, this is the devil. Now it is true that our warfare is spiritual and not physical (Ephesians 6:12 ; 2 Coritnhians 10:5-7), but Satan using the power of the air along with his other tools can bring a spiritual war to us in the flesh. This is why we must be so careful with things that affect our flesh and our spirit (2 Corinthians 7:1).
*Object lesson with resonant frequency of bottles
Our flesh has a resonant frequency so to speak (Ephesians 4:22) and Satan knows how to use it to get us moving with the course of this world.
God also has a frequency so to speak and it is the Holy Spirit, which we get with Salvation. As a result of Salvation, we can now be in tune with God through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-17).
*Object lesson tuning fork and entrainment of another tuning fork
Once in tune with the Holy Spirit we have the power to do great things for God (2 Timothy 1:7 ; Ephesians 2:16-19 ; Ephesians 3:14-20)
