Without Knowledge Prov. 19: 2

Without Knowledge Prov. 19: 2 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

You have to learn some things – if you are all the time running around hasting with your feet you will never settle down long enough to read and study – you must take time to think, meditate and read.  It is not good to be without knowledge.

We are commanded to study [2 Tim 2:15].  The admonition that knowledge puffeth up [1 Cor 8:1] is not an excuse to not study.

Prov 19:8 instructs that if you love your own soul you will get wisdom; Prov 19:15 explains the reason most don’t is due to laziness; Prov 19:20 shows us that to get knowledge you also have to be willing to hear counsel and receive instruction; Prov 19:27 warns to stay away from instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.  Error is taught by:

  • Lawyers – (Luke 11:52) Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
  • Universities – professors teach a lot of stuff that will drive a man away from the Lord (Col 2:8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
  • False teachers – (2 Pet 2:1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

So, where are you going to get the kind of knowledge that God wants you to have?

Read the Bible over and over so that you get a working knowledge.
