Your Mind in the Temple of the Holy Ghost 1 Cor. 6:19-20 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO
When you get saved, your body becomes the temple of the Holy Ghost. So, we want to teach about the various aspects of this temple to see what the Holy Spirit is doing in there. We’ll look at our minds, our eyes, our ears, our flesh, and so forth. Today we’ll look at the mind.
Before we were saved we had:
Corrupt minds – 1 Tim 6:5, 2 Tim 3:8 – our minds were corrupted by sin and worldly influences – today, we have to contend with men of corrupt minds.
Defiled minds – Titus 1:15 – our minds were defiled with wicked thinking and defiling images.
Blind minds – 2 Cor 4:4 – the devil blinds the minds of the lost.
But now that we are saved we have:
Christ’s mind – 1 Cor 2:16 – we have the mind of Christ – Phil 2:3-5 – let this mind be in you which was in Christ [Phil 2:3, lowliness of mind].
A Sound mind – 2 Tim 1:7 – God hath not given us the spirit of fear… but of a sound mind – after we were saved, our minds became sound and our thinking began to straighten out.
A Spiritual mind – Rom 7:25 – with the mind I serve the law of God but with the flesh the law of sin [Rom 8:6-7 to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace] – we can grasp spiritual truth.
Therefore we should have:
A Renewed mind – Rom 12:2 – be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind – each day our minds should be transformed through Bible reading and prayer – good Bible preaching and teaching are very necessary.
A single mind – Rom 12:16, 15:6 – the same mind… one mind – men and women who are doctrinally straight with Jesus should be of the same mind with each other.
A peaceful mind – Phil 4:7 – a peaceful mind [through prayer and not worrying] – our minds should be very settled in the peace of God.
A willing mind – 2 Cor 8:12 – a willing mind toward the things of the Lord to do anything he desires, when he wants it and the way he wants it.
Beware lest you have:
A Vain mind – Eph 4:17 – do not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind – that kind of mind will corrupt you.
An Earthly mind – Phil 3:19 – these are men and women who mind earthly things.
A Double mind – Jas 1:8 – a double minded man is unstable in all he ways.
A Reprobate mind – Rom 1:28 – a Christian can have a reprobate mind when he doesn’t like to retain God in his knowledge – he desires to sin and call it liberty!
